STAFF OFFICER POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Flotilla Staff Officer of Marine Dealer Visitors will exercise staff responsibility and supervision over all RBS-PV matters, will maintain close liaison with the Division Officer of the Marine Dealer Visitor program (SO-PV), and will coordinate and cooperate with the FSO-MT to encourage and increase the number of qualified marine dealer visitors. This officer will make and maintain close contact with marine dealers, current records of visitations, decal distribution, paln and perform workshops, member RBS-PV training, and ensure that all forms for RBS-PV are correctly completed and promptly forwarded. The FSO-PV reports monthly to the VFC, checks periodically that all qualified RBS-PV examiners conduct their annual quota of marine dealer visits of four (4) per examiner, and that each RBS-PV examiner does not lose their qualification status as a result. He or she will formulate and execute a plan to ensure all marine dealers are covered and provided with decals, that they receive an updated schedule of PE courses and VSC stations in their area. Dealers should receive handouts on these PE and VE programs and any USCG provided materials.

Lloyd Fanum is one of the longest serving members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Division 11.  His long history of service especially as a Program Visitor has earned him many awards.  A typical marina such as the one shown in the Photos (Hastings Marina)  Hastings, MN have their boating safety displays well stocked  on an ongoing and regular basis by Lloyd.  Lloyd, always in proper uniform is a great example of how we in the Auxiliary can serve the boating public by always keeping boating safety in the forefront of all boaters.  Hastings Marina is a great partner in our efforts at the USCG Aux by welcoming Lloyd and his visits to their marina and keeping Lloyd aware of any brochure restocking needs they have and their active promotion of Vessel Safety Checks by the Auxiliary to their boat owners.
