STAFF OFFICER POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Flotilla Staff Officer of Materials will exercise staff responsibility and supervision over the procurement of materials including stationary, forms, manuals, texts, U.S. Government postage, and PE course material for distribution to Flotilla officers and members and will keep all members informed of developments in this area. The FSO-MA will keep close liaison with the Division Staff Officer of Materials (SO-MA) and will coordinate and cooperate with all staff officers in order to keep them supplied with the items necessary for the performance of their duties. He or she will maintain and disseminate, as required, listings on supplies and prices thereof, sources available, and information on procurement. The FSO-MA will advise all members of any changes or updates to all publications and forms, and will order material from the ANSC as required. This officer will work closely with the FSO-FN for any advanced payment of orders for PE course material from ANSC.

UNIFORMS
There are several places to acquire auxiliary uniforms which are available to you. Two location are available where you can purchase new uniforms and one where good quality used
Uniforms may be purchased at very reasonable prices.
NEW UNIFORMS
New uniforms may be purchased from either the United States Coast Guard - Uniform Distribution Center, which is the outlet that supplies all active duty and reserve "coasties" their uniform issue, and the other is the Lighthouse Uniform
Company in Seattle, Washington.

The 8th Western Rivers District maintains a service run by Virginia Stanek known as the "Used Uniform Exchange" where auxiliarist sell there used uniforms and uniform accessories (i.e. Hats, shoulder boards, etc) at a fraction of the new price.

Sewn name tags, and devices for the ODU uniform may be obtained from a couple of different sources as well. If you purchase ODU uniforms directly from the UDC (see above) you can get a great deal on the sewn name tag and USCG Auxiliary tags directly from them at the time of purchase. The next best source is the Bent Needle.

The primary source for these is the 8th Western Rivers Materials Store. You may order direct from the store but doing so will raise your cost for each item by 10%. If you place your orders through the
FSO-MA you will save 10% off the listed catalog price. Write down the product number, description, catalog price and the quantity of the items you wish to acquire and email that information to the FSO-MA. The materials will be ordered for you. When they arrive he will get them to you along with a billing for your discounted cost. Once you place the order you will be committed to accepting shipment and will be required to pay for it on receipt.
OTHER MATERIALS (Postage Stamps, Manuals, Brochures etc)
If you require other supplies, these too may be ordered through the FSO-MA, with some limitations. Most educational course materials must be ordered through the FSO-MT (Member Training Officer) and can not be ordered directly through the FSO-MA.
Auxiliary National Supply Center (ANSC)
Most of these items are to be used for specific programs and are not just for ordering to have. You may review the catalog and see if there are items which you feel you need to have - if there are you may place an order through the FSO-MA by
sending an e-mail. Be forewarned however these orders may be questioned, but if they are for valid purposes they will be processed. If you have any questions regarding the relevance of these items for your specific program involvement you may wish to discuss your order with the program staff officer for that program for advise. You will note in the catalog that most of these items are restricted in the number of units which may be ordered at one time.
